Peripherals and USB hub

Would having a USB hub connected to my motherboard io affect the performance of my peripherals?

 

Thinking of adding a hub either type C or USB 3.0 Mainly for cable management 

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Depend on the peripherals. If you add a USB to USB hub (like 1 port in, 4 out) and connect 4 HDD to these AND use them at the same time, ofc they will split bandwith around.

 

If instead you use keyboard+mouse or webcam, you shouldn't notice any difference. However, I had issues with Corsair Saber and Strafe that did not power up using a PCI-E to 4x USB3.0 port, for some reasons.

I have an Akasa Elite 4EX USB hub with a burning DVD and two USB3 hard drives. I have not noticed any remarkable "slowdown"

 

This is a USB hub that is in use.
