Hey, my name is Robin!

So basically there is a plugin called Direct Wave for the FL Studio (a DAW)

With its latest build FL has added a feature to quickly render any synth or VST plugin into a multilayered Sample library.

Meaning that if you spend your time creating a static and non time-synced synth preset, you can render it into a CPU friendly Sample library in 2 clicks.

Rendering times may vary :P

Now here comes an idea.

After i have spend my time frantically rendering a bunch of my plucked synth presets i created over the years of making music into direct wave librarys, i have thought about a platform to share these and enable others to do the same.

These files can rank from anywhere from 2mb, to 40mb on an average thing, to 3GB if working with multiple velocity layers. To insanely large librarys if you have multiple cycles for velocity layers so not every key-press sounds the same.

This can range from 20GB piano Libraries to theoretically infinity.

Usually a bit lower than that though.

I would be interested in first of all the practicality since its basically a file hosting platform with a bunch of extra,

-The legal side, since there would be an issue if users started distributing libraries that are copyrighted. This does not include ILs opinion on the matter (the company behind FL and Direct Wave). I can acquire that information easily first hand

-How easy it would be to live scan incoming files if they are actually the desired format, if the file is actually the format and not just the filetype used as a container, and scan if it is a library that someone else has already uploaded.

Hashing and the sorts...

This wouldn't be a large scale thing, but since it would probably include users that are interested in getting the data stored getting Gigabytes of data in one go. So i guess not really a suitable project for a home network?

Also i would generally like to get some thoughts on this, it would not be a private thing in the sense that just me (and 300 members of the FL Discord) should be able to access it, but it is not meant as a startup business modes.

Rather something that can be done on the side by one or 2 people.

Also any general input would be appreciated, am not a tech newbie, neither for music, but i have no idea about business.

PS:

All members of LMG that have been there since last winter own a producer edition of FL Studio as it comes bundled with the Razor Blade xD
