Windows 10 Taskbar issues (disappears)

So I am having a problem with my taskbar disappearing at times when I alt-tab from a game in borderless windowed mode. I can sometimes manage to bring it back, but then it overlays on the game itself.

The problem started about a week ago when I did a clean install on my computer. I tried doing another install on Thursday and it worked nicely until today.

Could it be related to an update possibly? I've also started having issues with Edge at the same time, only that is not interactable except for the address bar and settings.

I'm just trying to alternate between games and regular Windows.

I've attached a picture that shows how the bottom of the screen ends up being. Sometimes I can get it to show again, but then it's reversed while in game.

I've also tried setting the game to fullscreen then back to borderless windowed, which did not solve anything.

While that works as a work around, I don't want to not have a taskbar when I'm switching between my browser and my games, which can happen quite a lot. Mostly because I have a need for notifications to show up and well, it's a Windows feature that should work properly.

I think its the game doing it.

So you are for sure in borderless windowed mode? What if you either go to full screen or windowed mode, what happens then?

Is this only happening for one game, or how many games have you tested this on?

Do you have multiple monitors, or only one?

I am running 2 monitors, I am certain the games are running borderless windowed when specified.

I tested with Heroes of the Storm, World of Warcraft, StarCraft 2, Skyrim Special Edition and Half-Life 2.

The first 4 acted the same when put in windowed borderless the taskbar disappears when alt-tabbing, but not when using win+1 which is my shortcut for Chrome.

I tested Heroes of the Storm, Skyrim and Half-Life 2 in fullscreen, nothing happened then. As Half-Life 2 has no borderless, I tried both that and Heroes of the Storm in windowed, it reacted the same way as borderless does.

I also thought of trying YouTube in fullscreen and see how it acted, and it was similar to windowed borderless.

I had the same issue, but it happened when I downloaded Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It even happened on my brand new computer once I installed the game, but it would fix on its own. I unfortunately don't really know how to fix this, but just wanted to mention that it also happened to me.
