Hi everyone, I'm a new member and I'm not sure if i posted on the correct sub-forum and sorry for the bad English. English ain't my first language hehe..

So i recently bought a new ASUS ROG STRIX-RX460 4GB graphics card. Before purchasing the graphics card, i watched linus's videos on Youtube to get a good understanding of what the card can do. From the video, The RX460 should be getting above 90 FPS for these 3 games which is Dota 2, CSGO and overwatch on 1080p High settings(MAX). But after testing the card myself, it proved otherwise. I was not getting the FPS that i hoped to get for those 3 games. I feel like my RX460 is not performing as it should be. I'll provide information on my rig down below

CPU: AMD FX-6350 six core processor

GPU: ASUS ROG STRIX-RX460

RAM: 12GB DDR3

MOBO: ASUS M5A97 R2.0

HARD DRIVE: Transcend 120GB SSD(ALL MY GAMES AND WINDOWS STORED THERE) and Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7.2KRPM(For storage)

MONITOR: Samung 21.5 inch 60hz

Power supply: Gigabyte PoweRock KX420

So the question is, what is holding back my RX460 from performing as it should be? my guess is the Power supply because it's pretty cheap and i don't see it getting reviews. But are there any factors to consider other than the power supply? Help from the community means so much for me. Thanks in advance

As always, make sure your graphics card driver is up-to-date.

I can say with confidence that the RX 460 cannot drive Overwatch at 1080p completely maxed, but rather the "Ultra" preset at nearly 80 FPS. Your CPU may also be a limiting factor in this scenario as it is quite old and under-powered to drive modern titles.

If your power supply was the issue, I imagine you'd be noticing a lot more problems than FPS drops while gaming.

The CPU is 3 years old. But from the videos and reviews i read, the fx6350 should not bottleneck the rx460. is it because of the age of the CPU or it's just the fx6350 being super bad for a CPU

The CPU for you may be 3 years old, but the architecture the CPU is built on is about 6 or 7 years old... it is horrible for gaming these days and is most definitely your bottleneck in your setup.

understood hehe.. do you have any options for an upgrade? I prefer AMD over intel. and i don't like to spend so much on a CPU

Ryzen 5 1600 or 1600x if you dont wanna spend much. They still have 6 cores like the fx 6350.

AMD have come out with their new Zen architecture and AM4 platform. The cheapest way to get started now would be a R5 1400 (4 cores 8 threads) or a 1600 (6 cores 12 threads), a cheap AM4 motherboard (avoid A320, go for B350 so you can OC), and 8GBs of DDR4.

idk

where i come from, a ryzen 5 1600 and B350 mobo will cost me 1,700. that's basically a month of my salary =( everything in the US is cheaper =(
