I have recently upgraded from my old 'hand-me-down' laptop. My old one I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro (during the free upgrade window) and it also had Office 2013 Pro pre installed. My new laptop (purchased 2nd hand) has Windows 8 but no office suite. Is there a way of transferring the licence from the old laptop to the new one? Could I just use the OEM key on the sticker on the back of the old laptop to activate Win10 and would that bring with it Office? I can buy office cheap off of kinguin.net but if I can do it for free then that woould be better hahaa!!

Thanks for your help!

You should just be able to upgrade the second machine to Windows 10. I've used keys for Windows 7/8/8.1 in Windows 10 and it does still seem to support it, but YMMV.

Build goes here :) :

CPU: Core i7-5960X                        Storage: 500GB Crucial MX200                      Case: Corsair 760T (White)

Mobo: ASUS X99 Deluxe II                             3TB Seagate Barracuda                   PSU: Corsair AX1200i

RAM: 32GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB                   6TB WD Red                                     Other stuff goes here :)

GPU: Nvidia TITAN X (Pascal)                         1.2TB Intel 750 series PCIe SSD      Other stuff goes here :)

Your windows 7 key is tied to the original laptop and windows 10 will not activate on another computer with that kwy

You can still upgrade the WIndows 8 to windows 10 for free. The laptop Windows 8 oem key in the UEFI will activate 10

FOr Office I'm not sure but OEM software is generally tied to the computer it came with and is non transferable
