Should I upgrade?

The usual question. Do you guys think it's worth an upgrade.

Right now I have a meager 550 Ti paired with a i7 3770k (not overclocked). I want to save some money to buy an entire new system (probably for about $2500 or something in that range). But I won't be able to start saving seriously until February (since I won't be a student anymore and have actual income).

As for the uses of my computer, well I'm a real nightmare for computers. I do a lot of webdesign, webdevelopment, programming, 3d modeling & rendering, video editing & rendering and of course gaming.

I can buy a 1050ti or maybe 1060 in the next month or so but I'm not really sure if I should upgrade and to what. The 3770k will probably bottleneck the system, and if all goes well the entire system will be replaced within a year. I only have a single monitor running at the amazing resolution of 1600x1050.

I'm open for AMD as well, just yet so used to it being an option but i think the budget is clear. Also, I have a 550W PSU.

So what do you guys think?

That's a bit of a tough call. If you can reuse your PSU, great. For what you are looking at doing, Ryzen 7 would be an awesome option. By the time you actually build, Zen+ or Zen 2(whatever they may call it) may have come out. It may be worth upgrading to the 1050ti, as 1060s are ridiculously hard to find at the moment and there is no way of telling when they will become available at a reasonable price again. I'd really weigh your options to determine what's best for you.

Since you are waiting for an new platform and want productivity, I would get Skylake-X 6c/12t. OC that to ~5GHz and it'll be a beast. Until then save up for a GTX 1080 Ti. I wouldn't waste money on mediocre parts.

I'm only going to upgrade my gpu this summer, if I'll upgrade anything at all.

I can buy a 1050ti for €180-220. A 1060 for €400-440, and a 580 for €300. So I think the 1060 will drop off. I'll replace the gpu when I'm going to build a new system.
