Yeah, I'll probably go for the Zenbook Pro UX550. Any idea what specs the announced price of $1299 actually are? The specs I posted above were rumoured so not too sure about that now. They only really mentioned the i7-7700 CPU, GTX 1050 ti, 16GB ram, 1TB SSD and 4k screen and said that $1299 would be the entry price.

So one of these:

Hey there guys, I'm currently looking for a new laptop for school because my current laptop is pretty much dead.

I'm studying Software Engineering right now and need a somewhat strong PC for September. I am Canadian but I am heading to the US in a couple months so I can also buy a laptop there if the prices are better. I have a custom gaming PC at home so I don't really plan on gaming on this laptop. I'm mainly looking for some sort of Ultrabook that has a decent battery life, quiet(can't stand loud fans), and 15-15.6 inches. The one laptop I refuse to buy is a Mac, never liked them.

The main laptops I've looked at were the XPS 15, the new upcoming Zenbook Pro(being release in July I believe),  Razer Blade Stealth(has a 14 inch screen and a bit overpriced), and just a handful of other random gaming laptops. The new Zenbook seems very interesting as Asus claims it has a 12-14h battery life, a 1050, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD and a 15.6" screen for $1299 USD($1800 CAD for me) as their entry level Zenbook pro.

It seems that the top end Ultrabooks don't have amazing specs and is overpriced while gaming laptops have better specs(but shit batteries/loud fans) and are cheaper. I am willing to go for a gaming laptop if it's worth it at the end, as long as it has a decent battery life and isn't too noisy. Battery life is very important as I don't have access to any power plugs in my classes and again I'm pretty anal about fan noise.

Any laptop suggestions would be appreciated as I really don't have any experience with high tier laptops. Thanks.

Edit: Budget isn't a huge issue if it's well worth it, but I'd rather not spend a huge amount on a laptop that I won't be gaming on.
