I need some help. I just bult a new PC that has a ryzen 1500x, corsair vengeance 8gb (2x 4gb), GTX 1060 and a MSI Gaming Plus B350 MOBO. I got everything working with windows installed and all updated done. Then I went to overclock. Booted into the Bios and turned on X-amp because i saw that my ram was running at 2133 and i bought 3000mhz. I changed it to 2933 beause i read that is what is stable. Now all I get is a black screen and no input from the hdmi on the graphics card. All the fans and lights turn on but i do not get anything. I have tried taking the battery out of the MOBO to clear the cmos but that does not seem to help. Is there anything else i can do?

From the youtube video i watched it just said 5 sec then put the battery back in. I tried it for about a minute and i got a error code with the ram and it reset everything and is now working. I was freaking a bit for a second lol. Still new to the custom built PC world. I would like to overclock my Ryzen 1500x to either 3.9ghz or 4.0 and run my ram at 2933. I will do more research

Depending on the motherboard and power supply, there can be lingering power in the capacitors which can cause prevent the CMOS clearing process from working correctly.

It normally should only take a few seconds, but if it doesn't work, then giving it the extra time does the trick.

I recommend focusing on CPU overclocking before you focus on RAM overclocking. There are several factors that can prevent the RAM from overclocking to 2933, including the IMC on the CPU. I recommend starting at 2666. If you cannot get it to run at that, there is an issue with compatibility with the RAM and the motherboard.

Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard?

Is the RAM on the motherboards QVL?

If you cannot load the XMP profile, you will need to overclock RAM manually, which can be very time consuming and overwhelming.

OK first off what ram model are you running on your motherboard?

Is it on the QVL list on msi's website?

Also one of the most important questions is what bios version are you on?

If your overclock is not working try the new beta bios off msi's website and see if that helps your ram.

VM22 is the latest, so flash and see if it will post after your adjusted overclock settings.
