HyperX Cloud X or Cloud II headset

Mr.Humble
Go to solution Solved by Mr.Humble,

Thank you all for your input, i will be getting the Cloud X while it's still on sale.

Hi,

The Cloud X is currently 65€, the Cloud II 80€. Should I go with the cloud X? AFAIK it doesn't have the USB connection but other than that it should be the same. Opinions?

Cloud 2 also has simulated 7.1. Overall not really something you have turned on for all games, but works great for games like Battlefield. + usb is really handy.

Cloud 2 also has different ear paddings for switching, not sure if 1 has it.

Yeah I believe that's what the USB connector is for. However I'm talking about the cloud X, which should be based on the cloud 2, so the earpads should be there. Just without the 7.1 virtual surround.

According to my answer from HyperX support, they use the same driver and the "experience" will be the same in stereo. From what I've read around forums, virtual surround sound doesn't work on consoles, if that's your platform. So you might want to look deeper into that. The Cloud does have a soundstage, so virtual surround sound shouldn't be needed to feel a more three-dimensional environment/space. I think the Cloud's fidelity already sounds very muddy, so virtual surround sound would worsen that due compression. Some details would be lost and separation would be diminished.
