My modem/router is in the basement of my house, and I use a powerline adapter (TP-LINK AV500) to connect to the internet from the second floor.  However the powerline network constantly breaks and I have to run all the way downstairs to fix it.  Should I replace the powerline with something, and if so, with what?

That's just a problem with powerlines.

I'm not too sure if you can fix them.

Something I might use are just old routers you have lying around on "repeater" mode. It's pretty much a powerline, but probably with more control on your part, and probably better transmission abilities.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.
