anyone done tec cooling before?

I am thinking of mounting a tec (Peltier) unit between my cpu and cooler(hyper212+), I will be running a FX6300 when I do It, any tips for voltage control or temperature monitoring? I think I will be able to use a varriable resistor to change voltage, and this to monitor temp of heat sink
