New ram = smoother lower frames?

So I did have 8gb ram at 1866 xmp profile. I changed it out to 2133mhz 16gb and straight off the bat I'm noticing in Ark that the lower framerates somehow feel smoother. I use a gsync monitor, and always fealt like lower frames didn't really feel smoother. I know gsync is no magic bullet that makes 30 feel like 60. But now with this new ram, 30 actually feels pretty smooth. Def not placebo.

Although uncommon, maybe your original module was defective. What brands are these sticks? This is good information for us to know.

Both old and new sticks are corsair vengeance.

same for me in Squad.

Went from 16GB DDR3 1866 to 32GB DDR4 3000Mhz and the lower FPS is now not as low and less fluctuation when the App pushes the rig.

Granted for most of us it's hardly noticeable, most of the time but I really push things in 1440p and 4K with high resolution scaling and also VR App's etc.

@leelaa14@ShoshinUKseems about right that faster RAM helps CPU intensive games run better. Seems like what's happening is you're both getting better minimums. Average framerate never tells the whole story.

Faster RAM can often help a bit at the lower end when CPU-bound. But I wouldn't expect it to be enough of a difference that you'd instantly feel a big change. On the other hand, I don't play Ark, so take my opinions as you will.

Faster RAM can give you a handfull extra frames in certain games, but cant change how they "feel". I guess your Gsync was off before.

What about frame pacing? Could it not effect that? For example dishonored 2 has bad frame pacing for many people. 60 fps feels like 40 in that game. Granted not for all, but many and me included.

I´ve never experienced this myself. Since i use Gsync, i dont have FPS Issues of any kind.

Hmm, well either way what ever its that's going on I'm happy. Now to play battlefield 1 properly.
