Good day, everyone.

I am looking to upgrade a prebuilt dell PC. Currently getting a new mobo is not an option.

0GDG8Y is the mobo it has and I am looking at a i5-3570 that would replace the current i5-2320

The issue is however that while looking up most google troubleshooting for this pair, it seems that some people are reporting that this combination does not work and some - that it does.

The only processor that is specifically stated that it seems to work without any issues is the i5-2500, which is a passmark 6,274 instead of the 3570's 7,022.

Their prices are the same for me.

Should I go with the one that it seems to work fine, or should I risk it and grab the 3570. The issue is that if it involves flashing a bios, I have never done that before and if something happens - I have no PC to troubleshoot from.

Thoughts?

LGA1155 has two chipset series - 6 and 7 - where 6 supports 2xxx CPUs out of the box, and 3xxx CPUs with a BIOS flash. 7 supports both out of the box.

What BIOS ver.? Check when the update for 3xxx CPUs came out, and what the version number is.

If you're on an older BIOS, it may not work 100% with the 3570, but with a newer bios it will definitely work.

idk
