gaming Budget Card Showdown

I am building a budget system for my little brother. Looking through craigslist I have a choice between 2 cards.

 

The Radeon Sapphire HD 7770 OC (1gb) for 30$

 

And

 

The EVGA GTX 750ti SC (2gb) for 50$

 

I've been looking through benchmarks, many of them state that the 7770 performs better on some games; which does not make sense to me.

 

So I thought I'd ask some fellow nerds!

This is mostly due to driver optimizations. You know, games developed on with Nvidia/AMD, etc.

 

Also, the AMD card could perform better simply because of current driver support.

 

Nvidia is kind of infamous for leaving its previous releases out to die once a new generation hits, but AMD seems to really try to improve drivers constantly.

Optimizations and such. The 750ti should be quite a bit better. The 7790 would be more of an equivalent to the 750ti. The 2gb could be better depending on what games are being played.

What is the OEM on each card?  A really nice, well cooled card might  outperform a shoddy one even if the chips are similar
