So I am going to build a new Ryzen with the 1600 and I know it comes with a cooler, but I want to reuse me corsair h60 (and get a different/better fan for it, might go push pull with a lighted version of a better fan on the inside). My question is that since I can take the corsair H60 and mount it right on Ryzen without any extra bracket (from what I understand from what I read from corsair) I should be able to put the ryzen stock cooler on the FX 8300 I have now, correct? obviously with cleaning the thermal paste off the FX (and cleaning the h60 and adding thermalpaste when I install it on the ryzen) but that should be it, correct? and that cooler would be better than the stock cooler that came with the 8300?

The question is, are AM4 mounting sockets the same as AM3/+? The answer seems to be yes.

“For all AMD fans out there, we have good news. AMD has just informed us, that the new AM4‬ CPUs will use the standard mounting holes that has become the norm at least since Socket 939. This means, all Thermalright coolers will be compatible to the new Zen‬ processors.”

AM4 uses a different mounting system than AM3+ though.
