I'm curious to know how my WD Green performs, but I'm not sure what settings to use.

I'd also like to see benchmarks from anyone who feels like testing their HDD.

Use the default settings, as that's likely what everyone else is using.

That doesn't necessarily mean the default settings show real world results. I think the default settings is 1GiB and QD 4, but what are most real-world workloads (gaming as an example) comparable to?

The default settings as of 5.2.1 are QD32T1 sequential and 4K and QD1T1 sequential and 4K. Basically the best and worst cases and a combination thereof.

The problem is defining what a "real world" scenario is. Databases are a much different use-case than Average Joe browsing Facebook and copying some files back and forth, and both are perfectly fine as "real world" scenarios. For the average user, a lot of storage requests lean more towards 4K performance rather than sequential.

Well, how would this compare against a WD Blue/Barracuda?
