Zyxel GS1548

Hi, 

 

I've bought a Zyxel GS1548 Smart Switch off Ebay. 

I starts up fine when I put the power Cable in, but I can't seem to get into the web configurator. 

According to the manual the Standard ip is 192.168.1.1, but my network is on a 192.168.2.xx range. 

Could that be a Problem. I've tried the reset button but it didn't help so far.. 

 

Any ideas?

Plug only your PC into the switch directly then manually assign 192.168.1.100 to your network card. After this it should work. BTW why do you need a managed switch?

I needed more ehternetports so I needed a large switch. Found this on Ebay really cheap and happened to be managed. 

Now I want to use Link Aggregation with my Synology NAS and my ISP router does not support that.

Be careful with link aggregation, in my case for some reason it interferes with UPNP and media players cant find my NAS running the media server...

Sounds strange, does this happen to specific media players or at random?

Totally random, sometimes they find it sometimes they dont...

What do you use for link aggregation? On my NAS I have the options you see in the screenshot.

I don't know the difference between the second and third Option. 

 

On my switch I can enable trunking but it doesn't mention if that is static or dynamic.

I think what you have selected will be ok, mine has a completely different webui. Just make sure that you set it up on both devices before you connect the second cable. And double check the port numbers on the switch when plugging in the cables so they will match up with the ports you set as LAG in the webui.

Do you know if there is a big difference between trunking and LACP?

On the Zyxel website it is stated that is supports IEEE 802.3ad LACP but in the web interface I only see trunking..
