Hi guys

I am new to the forum. I searched for this, but haven't found anything.

SO.... I am currently looking for a laptop/convertible for school. I had a Surface Pro 3 till last summer, but had to give it away. Now, since I just worked for a year, I got an XPS 15 from my company. But I am about to start school again in the beginning of next year.

I am currently looking at the XPS 2-in-1, the HP Spectre x360 and the Surface 4. I am sure, that I don't want to go with the Surface Book. Had that for a while, before handing it over to a client and was not so happy with it. My favorite point about the Surface was, that I don't have to lay it flat on the table for note taking but rather could set the stand in such a way, that the tablet was lightly slanted.

The con for the HP is, that the XPS, in the configuration I would want it (I5. 4k display, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM) would be cheaper than the HP in a similar configuration.

I also looked at the Lenovo Yoga. but I will mainly use the device for not taking stuff. So an active pen is a must, for me.

Does any of you have some experience with those devices? Which one do you guys recommend or should I wait till end of the year, to see, what else is coming up?

One of the few things, I didn't like about the SP3 is, that as soon as I opened chrome, it drained battery, so fast. But haven't had any problem with the edge.

Beside that, will the SP4 be enough, to code and run two to three VMs occasionally?

The VM's will just be a bonus, since I will still have my XPS 15 to do heavier work load. But it would be nice to have one device, which I can do everything in school with.
