So after my dlid yesterday my pc went into a boot cycle many times then posted worked fine the when restarting back to boot cycle

i took it in today because it was beyond me, we tested my cpu in another board and it worked and another 2 chips in my board and it didn't work so I gather the board is dead for sure

whislt swapping CPU back to my board I dropped it and the his fell off and 3 cappasitiors off of the die

a miracle it posted on my board with my chip before back to the same old

it's currently in the shop now having the capacitors changed ontop of the die

which apparently he can do :S

So after diagnostics if the chip works and board is dead the only board I can get from anywhere that supports sli is a saber tooth for 175 which if fine if that will get me back up and running

or if both are dead I will be getting a new platform

probly ryzen 1700 as I think it will age better with gaming being 8core 16 thread and it doesn't do a bad job as it is to be fair

thoughts ?

Your CPU is still solid, but I switched to Ryzen and I haven't regretted it. Then again I do content creation so for me it makes sense. Since the platform isn't supposed to change for the next 3-4 years. You could get a Ryzen 5 and then upgrade as needed. The 1600x appears to be a good value right now.

I would rather agree on what we share, than fight on what we don't. - Myself

I love sabertooth boards does it come with the thermal armor? I would sell the CPU and get a ryzen 5 instead though

It will be solid if it still works lol

but yeah I was gona make the switch to ryzen if it's dead because it's only a little behind intels 7700k in gaming but it's a fucking monster for everything else

and over the last year more and more games are using more than 4 cores so :)

We hope so anyways :D These things tend to take more time then expected, but I am making a streaming vid right now with my 1700x with a bunch of different titles, and that alone is reason enough for me. Direct x12 and Vulcan will also be interesting with Ryzen.
