Which GTX 1080 is recommended to buy?

Lazmarr

Long time AMD user. Need a new card for VR, just purchased a Vive and my R9 280x doesn't cut it. I have one in mind so far - The KFA2 HOF GTX 1080.

Any other recommendations as to good cards?

Honestly there are 2 factors that only you can decide for your system.

1: How much are you willing to spend?

2: Does card aesthetics matter to me?

All the cards perform within 2-5 fps of each other when overclocked so "which card" is more personal than which is the best card.

In terms of thermals, one with an AIO block pre-installed on it like the EVGA hybrids or MSI Seahawk cards have the best thermals.

Was going to be the card I would get but It appears to be far too expensive at £700+.

The max I can spend is about £550

Aesthetics don't particularly matter but it would be nice to match my white motherboard or black case :)

Just looking for a good all around card, the HOF seemed good since it's a decent price around £500 and matches the aesthetics. Came to ask since I haven't had any experience with KFA2/Galax.

I took a look at the EVGA but apparently there are some problems with them?

There are no problems with the EVGA cards to my knowledge. They had a problem with the 1080's at first with the VRM overheating, but that was resolved in a later revision. And if you had a card with the problem, they would ship you the parts needed to correct the problem.

Galax is a good brand. Some tech reviewers do get samples of the HOF editions from them such as Pauls Hardware and Bitwit. Also I think that OC3D also does as well in the UK.

I was wondering what happened to Tek Syndicate... I couldn't find their channel on my subscriptions list. Glad they're still their but renamed to Crit; preferred the old name much more.

Awesome, I think I'll get the Galax/KFA2 card, seems to quite decent :)

Hopefully the 1080 will be good for VR xD

The 1080 will deliver a great VR experience.

Tek Syndicate re-named/rebranded itself after the divorce Logan and Wendell and the team went through. This is what came out on the other side.

RX 480 would do ok too with VR wouldn't it?

RX 480 is ok, but could possibly drop below the 90 fps needed to prevent the vertigo effect in VR.

Awesome! Thank you very much for the help. It's much appreciated.

That kinda sucks, Wendell was pretty cool and added a lot to the channel. I'll have to watch some more to see what his channel is like now.
