This arrived yesterday afternoon!!!

Got it on sale for about 90,000 JPY.

I will review it in-depth over the next month, if anybody has questions about widescreen monitors or this monitor in particular that I can answer I will endeavor to do so. I can run things on windows/mac & linux.

Observations thus-far:

the cable management sucks.

12v from the power brick is pretty flimsy.

included DP>DP, HDMI>HDMI, Mini DP>DP & USB 3.0 are really heavy duty! have some larger cable ties prepared.

response time & 100hz performance is as advertised.

support for ultra-wide games is limited (Rocket League is ok! though)

the speakers are pretty useless -- i will not be using them for anything other than podcasts. DEFINITELY NOT MUSIC-WORTHY!

it's not as heavy as expected.

the height adjustment is reasonably sturdy.

finish quality is superb.

picture in picture is awesome.

125% of RGB colour space is no exaggeration - this thing shits all over my previous colour accurate monitor. ( may not be able to use it for everything though as not everybody has a curvey monitor)

the curve is not at all extreme in-spite of Samsung's advertising, it is very comfortable & whilst you notice the extreme radius compared to say the U3415W or the 34UC97 it's not at all weird.

xx

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Wait a second, this thing has DP 1.4?!?!? How did I miss this?

Now I'm curious if it could potentially be overclocked to 144 hz...

This looks like my ideal monitor, except I'd probably like 144 hz and freesync 2.

unless it's csGO i probably don't have a GPU that could push those sorta frames @the ultrawide resolutions. it's pretty awesome but i spent a lot of time comparing this one, the dell & the LG before buying.

I don't have predator money & they look obscene to my tastes.

Yeah, $850 for a 100 hz 3440x1440 monitor with a wide color space and freesync is pretty good. If only I had that much money for a monitor :D.

Ok so after some CPU and GPU OC tweaking I've been getting the following results in the following games:

  • MadMax @ max all settings 3440*1440 = 44~50fps (This game is well ompitimized for AMD cards)
  • Project cars @ high all settings 3440*1440 = 30~36fps (My sister's card performed better in the PC i made for her gtx970)
  • DOTA @ max all settings 3440*1440 = 60+ (appears to be capped)
  • Dark Souls 3 @ high all settings 3440*1440 = 31~37fps & 2560*1080 =38~45fps
  • League of legends @ max all settings 3440*1440 = 300+fps (obviously impractical i cap it at 100)
  • CSGO @ max all settings 3440*1440 = 100 < (again i cap it as there's no point)
  • Rocket League @ max all settings 3440*1440 = 60+

So as I have a pretty mid-range & old GPU, a R9 380OC 4GB(msi) it seems pretty plausible to have a decent gaming experience at 3440*1440.

I have been playing some rocketleague, path of exile & a few other things so results for those will come soon.

My GPU is aircooled, stock fans. above had avg temps of 50~67deg celcius

My CPU is watercooled, a corsair H20i (cheapo). >60deg celcius
