Basically, whenever the phone rings in the house the internet broadband connection disconnects stopping people from using it for a short time.

 

It has only started happening since the router was moved upstairs. The only thing that has changed is the length of the cable coming into the router and the splitter cable that separates the phone line from the one going into the router,which was swapped for an identical one as the previous one was very close to breaking.

 

Any help would be appreciated

Is the cable running behind the socket damaged? this could lead to an problem - also do you have one of the ADSL filters hanging out of the master socket or in built. (that could be dodgy)

 

Just checking on this - are the phone and router together or is the phone downstairs?

Break it. Put it back together.Then hope like hell it works. Failing that Use Gaffer Tape.... lots of it. If that doesn't work then either there isn't a problem or you haven't used enough gaffer tape,

 ^ This. Double check that EVERY device on the phone line other than the modem has a filter on it.

The phone is downstairs.

 

 ^ This. Double check that EVERY device on the phone line other than the modem has a filter on it.

 

I will definatly check the ADSL filters out out thanks for your help guys.

 

TBH I never even knew that you need ADSL filters.
