Motherboard cooler hack.

Go to solution Solved by Maxinfamily,

How do you know It was shorting? Was It connecting any pins? (the ones that are soldered at the back of the mobo) Did It now work properly if you dont add the bag?

Keep in mind the following things (which are pure logic, not any expert knowledge):

- The coolers backplate area usually runs pretty hot, which could lead you bag to melt.

- The bag can break just because It has a lifetime and It breaks when It comes to Its end.

- Any non metalic surface can let electricity through if the voltage is high enough and the material is thin enough too (Ex: the air is a high insulating material but the spark pug of a car engine is capable of run the electricity through the air because the gap is very thin).

I dont know if It helps. But theres that hahaha.

I have to say that if I were you I would have retourned the cooler in the first place.

Some time ago I bought hyper 103 cooler but the backplate was shorting out my motherboard so... I put antistatic bag between it and the backplate but now  I'm watching Linus and he says that those thing can be conductive.

My pc has been running like this about a month.

Should u be worried?

It should have a protective layer on the side that touches the board. Did it not have it?

Powercolor RX 480 8Gb Red Devil @1330Mhz

Bottom line:  Don't be a spaz or an 800lb gorilla when installing your expensive CPU, and you won't have any problems. --Phate.exe
