Dear LTT,

I cannot figure this out at all. My goal is to play (and record) Doom midi music using a patched MT32 to more closely emulate General Midi.

You can compare the differences here;

Unpatched MT32:

Patched MT32:

I downloaded the SysEX .mid files directly from Roland (http://www.rolandus.com/support/general_apps_tools/1713) and tried to follow their instructions:

1. If you have a CM-32L, CM-64, or LAPC-1 skip to step 3.
2. Check the System Exclusive Unit Number of the MT-32 by holding down MASTER VOLUME and pressing SOUND. Adjust the Unit Number with the SELECT/VOLUME dial to a value of 17. Press MASTER VOLUME to exit.
3. Load and play the desired setup file on your sequencer or Media Player.
4. Then load and play the General MIDI format song(s).

I was able to get into my MT-32's System Exclusive Unit Number (which is 17) so I didn't need to change it. I loaded and played the setup file clip in WMP (which is correctly transferring the signal into the MT-32, lighting up and everything) which is just a series of audible clicks coming out of the Roland's sound output.

I then proceeded to run E1M1.mid from my computer but it still sounds identical to the unpatched MT32.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Amanwithplan
