So lately my GPU has been under-performing in games.

For example used to get 45 FPS on high-ultra now get 20 medium.

And then I left afterburner open while playing and I saw that the GPU usage was only at 35% max with an average of 25%ish

What is going on??

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

That RAM (assuming your signature is up to date) is way to low on all accounts for an APU. Get some fast stuff, and then see if that helps.

I'm using a 7870

Seems pretty odd.. Although you might wonna check up with the APU and see if that is inteffering somehow with your GPU... I do not see your RAM as being the bottleneck.. And IF it was, you would proberly experience big regular FPS drops instead of a constant lower FPS.

Check your temps on the GPU under heavy load, see if throttles...

Everyone have a cool signature. I don't, so I thought I would write something.

- Cool right?

Also, I know it's standard procedure... But do it anyways.. Check for latest drivers, (or reinstall earlier versions you know works). Make sure windows does not do any funny stuff with prioritizing. Just in general, clean your OS / monitor you PC as best as you can, and see if any components act strange which could cause the GPU not to be utilized fully.

Already checked

GPU: 61 constant after 10 minutes of playing

Using latest drivers.Trying my best since I got Win8 to keep it in the best possible shape I can.

He is not playing with the onboard gpu so he would not benefit from faster ram...

What I would do in your case is reinstall windows that should fix any issues. But I don't know how much of a hassle that would be for you.
If you have some money left over upgrading to 8gb ram wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Got some money left, will get 4GB's more and probably tomorrow re install drivers  and if that doesn't work I will just re install windows.

Thanks everybody!

I really think you should try with some older drivers... You say this is an issue you just started to encounter recently... So a good guess could be driver bugs/faulty install of the drives... Try that before you go as far as reinstalling windows and buying more ram.. Because you could end up with the exact same problem...
