Hello!

So as title says i nees some help choosing a good sound card, i own a sennheiser hd 599 headphones, iam not looking to get them louder, i want to get sound quality...

I need some sound card that is good for gaming and good for music because so my old creative x-fi extreme audio pci-e or the onboard supreme fx from my motherboard ( rog IX hero) cant handle the true power of these headpho, On mymixer or in my electric drums they get really way more quality than in my pc.

Thanks

I use the Creative Sound Blaster X7 for my home theater and for general use.  It's probably overkill for those headphones but it sounds phenomenal.

The X7 is the only one I have experience with.  I'd imagine the ZXR One is also good.

Don't buy a sound card!

I own the Asus Essence STX soundcard which is pretty much the best (except the 2nd version) the sound is great an all... but i bought a USB DAC from SCHIIT for my laptop (has broken audio jack), it costed me 57 USD and the sound is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the Asus Essence STX.

The Asus costs 3 times as much, for that money you can buy for instance a nice entry level tube amp from SCHIIT. If a 57 USD gadget delivers already by a big margin better sound than the sound card, you can imagine more high end stuff from them.

From a personal experience, i dislike sound cards. They need a PCI or PCi-E slot, so you will have to plug it in somewhere near the GPU. If you plug the soundcard behind the GPU, the VRM's on the backside of the GPU, can get hotter, mainly when overclocking.

GPU's are fairly thick, so there won't be much space inbetween. Sometimes it won't even be possible to plug the soundcard in the next slot behind the GPU, so you will have to sacrifice a PCI or even PCI-E slot.

If you put it in front of the GPU, it's also sub optimal, considering that it sucks in air from the front.

The placement of my soundcard, really, used to make a very big difference in temperature of the GPU and it used to compromise overclocking.

This is just my personal experience, other people may have not experienced the same.
