So I just got my new case, received it this morning. I turned off my pc, that until that point was working, and assembled it in the new case. When I pressed the power button it wouldn't start. So I short the power circuit on the motherboard with a screwdriver,  but again nothing happens. Also the motherboard has a power stand by led, and it's on.  Anyone has any ideas?

no proper power or a short.

did you install the standoffs?

They came pre-installed but yes they are on there, also I forgot to mention my motherboard has a green light that indicates stand by power, and that led is on.

Backtrack, have you plugged every powercable in where it should?

Are they in properly?

Replug everything just in case.

I have plugged the 4 pin connector for the cpu, and the 24 pin connector for the motherboard. The fan for the cpu is also plugged in the motherboard, did I miss something?

Have you plugged them out and in again? if not; do it.

See if they're properly inserted to the PSU as well.

I complete removed the graphics card (it requires a 6 pin connector ) but still nothing.

It really sounds like something is broken.

Take everything out and test it outside you case. If it doesn't start I fear you're out of luck.

Just remove the mobo out of the case and build It outside. Check if everything works, then put It in again.

You can short stuff by touch unless you're using wristwraps connected to a PSU and all that, so most likely one of you components died in the process.
My guess is the motherboard.

I thought that my self but electricity clearly passes through, as indicated by the power stand by led. Could it be something else?
