Why does my DP not work sometimes?

So i've had this issue since i got this monitor (around christmas) it's where my Display Port gives no information to my screen. I can fix this by plugging in a DVI and run it through there, and the Display Port will work next day. I just don't understand why this happens!

 

Another question, but quick: Why is CSGO on stretched when using a DVI, and normal 4:3 on Display Port?
