980Ti is on par or just a little worse than 1070, don't spread misinformation.

Okay so if I understand, I should upgrade my GPU, Because i'm playing games at 2560x1440. If so it should most likely be a 1080? Or should I wait for a 1080 TI? Also for my cpu I should wait for an amd cpu? And on a side note, droidbot, what is a  8c/16t ,what is that? Sorry i'm fairly new to this.

8 cores, 16 threads.

980Ti is good for 1440p, if you want to go 4k go TitanXPascal or 1080 or wait for 1080Ti.

idk

i'm playing games at 2560x1440 144hz and my Titan X Pascal still can struggle with a few dips to below 40 when i max everything out on games like gta 5 with all the advanced graphics on, msaa x4 and so on, but id say get a 1080ti when it comes out
