Hi all. a few years back i spent over £1800 building a custom gaming rig and regreatably got rid of it. Recently i've really wanted to get back into pc gaming again but don't have much of a budget and tbh havent been on the tech train in the past few years so all the tech is new to me again so could do with some advice please.

Part ideas for Build:

GFX: Nvidia GTX 1050ti (zotac)

CPU: Intel i5 7400

RAM: 8GB Single DDR4 2400mhz

BOOT: 120GB Drevo X1 SDD

PSU: Corsair VS550

As you can see im missing one major thing, the motherboard. Could you wonderful bunch please help me out in recommending one for this build, Baring in mind im wanting to do this build as cheap as possible without any bottlenecks, Also I will be adding an aditional HDD further down the line and another single 8GB RAM

Any more advice on the build or if youve noticed anithing that has been missed could you please let me know. Thanks in advance, Joel

I wouldn't recommend buying anything until zen comes out especially for a budget build. Unless you need it right away.

You're also missing a case. (I assume you have one already)

Just get any H270 or B250 based motherboard that has the feature you want. Since you won't be overclocking, it doesn't need to be fancy and even the most basic motherboard will have enough SATA, USB, etc, ports.

An mATX motherboard would fit into an mATX case or ATX case.

(Preferably Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, EVGA, or ASrock.)

I'd also suggest a Corsair CX450M power supply, unless you already have the PSU.

I know that you said you would add another 8Gig stick of RAM later, but how much later? An H270 or B250 motherboard should have 4 RAM slots, so there's no need to get a single stick - just get 2x 4Gigs now and add another 2x 4Gigs later.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

Hi thanks for the advice that does look a decent setup for the price but i forgot to mention i really am stuborn when it comes to GPU's (Im an intel/Nvidia guy) and have always gone for Nvidia. I just thought for the price that this gpu looks a good performer. I also noticed you recommended the i5 6400? wpuldnt i be better with the 7400 as its the same price?

with you saying this is unbalanced is the CPU a bit overkill for the GPU? I was wanting to go for an i3 but didnt think 2 cores would be enough.

Thanks,

Joel

A 480 performs way better than a 1050ti

You need a B250 or H270 to work with i5 7400 which actually will increase costs a bit

Yeah, the cpu bit overkill, especially when you game

Oh right I see what you mean, Just looking at the price on that system you posted is buying me over quite a bit. Thanks for the advice.

Oh yeah the case haha, was just going to see what motherboards were recommended for the case but now i get that if i go with an ATX I cant go wrong. I was looking at the CX450M and thought wattage may be a bit low incase of upgrading in the future but tbh if i was adding anything like a more powerful gpu I would just upgrade anyways. And never thought about the RAM. Thanks for the Advice.
