Questions about BIOS updates

So I bought a i7-6800k with a GA-X99-SLI (http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X99-SLI-rev-10#ov)

 

It supports the processor but on the newer BIOS, i've seen online that theres suppose to be a light flashing to indicate its doing its thing, but there seems to be none on the IO at the back. 

(it supports q flash)

How can I know if its working? 

 

And since my CPU isnt suported by the current version of the BIOS, is it dangerous to put it in the socket? Or is it safe?

It's completely safe to put it in the socket, it just won't do anything until the bios is updated. 

 

You could always try it in the hopes your motherboard was produced/shipped with an updated bios.
