Use Steam controller as a 360 controller?

Go to solution Solved by Dash Lambda,

Looks like X-Plane only works with controllers that report themselves as gamepads, seems a little lazy to me, but I'm not a dev so what would I know...

I found a possible solution, someone made a workaround to get the SC recognized in UWP games, might address this issue: [Link]

Hey guys,

is there a possibility to emulate an 360 controller with a steam controller?

I want to play X-Plane 11 with my Steam controller because of the gyro and i am not able to get it working.

The game will not accept any of the inputs of the steam controller. But the real X-Box controller works fine.

I hope you may help.

Helge

Yes this is literally how the whole steam controller works.

Basically steam intercepts the button input "translates it" to xinput (or keyboard input, or mouse input) then spits it out to the game,

I have tried that and the game does still not accept the input because it does not see any kind of gamepad to start with

I dont play xplane so I dunno how to work around this.

But to answer your initial question yes you can and steam does this functionality itself. As to how to get it working with xplane I have no idea.

I don´t think that you can emulate the SC on the system level. The computer still sees it as a keyboard and mouse, not as a controller no matter what you do in Steam.

Sry, the screenshot is in German but it says "keyboard and mouse options"

Wow, that looks promising but I am doomed to revise for my exam now.

Maybe I´ll try that later today or tomorrow. But thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot! Screw the exam and I tried it. Works seamlessly.

You´ve saved my 60 bucks for buying that game!
