Im upgrading from an rx480 8gb founders and an msi rx480 8gb because my preformance has become very inconsistant (sometimes getting 300+fps and then suddenly dropping to under 60 in overwatch) I would like to upgrade to either an msi gtx 1070 gaming x or a msi gtx 1080 gaming x. Im just not sure which one i would like to upgrade to. Any suggestions?

Your ditching Xfire 480s for a 1070 or 1080?

Im doing it because from the past month they have become SUPER inconsistant with their preformance. throughout a game i might be hitting 300-60fps in a couple of seconds

That could just be a software issue. Have you tried DDUing and starting again with your drivers?

Could even be just Overwatch, does it happen in other games?

That seem like a problem else where instead of the GPU itself. Can you try disable crossfire first and run only 1 RX 480, see if the framerate is stable?

It happens in cs:go, but in games like rainbow six siege it runs 200+fps everything max, might just be an overwatch problem. Also im new here, what is DDUing?

I have not tried it in overwatch, but i did try it in cs and it fixed the problem there? it might just be that.

What Monitor do you have ?

dont remember the exact model, but its a 1080p 144hz (can oc to 180hz) Republic of Gamers monitor. I am thinking of upgrading to either a 1440p 144hz or a 4k 60hz monitor though.

DDUing is using Display Driver Uninstaller to fully uninstall the driver for your GPU before installing a fresh new one. Sometime there's a problem with the GPU Driver like conflict with the older version or so, so DDUing is a good way to start.

And yes, it seem like a crossfire problem if you have it like that. Try DDUing and install the newest driver from AMD. Also didnt AMD have Catalyst or some similar program that auto update driver?

If you are considering a 1440p/144Hz or 4K Monitor then a GTX 1080 would make more sense if you don't want a 2 x gpu setup.
