Hi guys.

I bought an Intel S5000VSA server motherboard with 2x Intel Xeon processors (i cant remember which ones all I know is they are 1.86GHz Dual Core) and 16GB EEC DDR2 RAM.

OK so here is the issue.

I installed Server 2008 R2 Enterprise on it and everything was running fine, so I then ran windows update and since then 4 SATA drives will no show up in Windows (even thought they do in the POST) So I thaught that maybe then update screwed something up so I went and reformatted the system drive and reinstalled the OS using the same DVD as before and still they do not show up.

Here is how they are configured.

2x 160GB HDD RAID 0 (System Drive) Works perfectly as it should

4x 2TB SATA HDD standalone disks (not RAID) No longer shows up in Windows although it does in the POST screen.

I have checked device manager and they are not in there and also checked the disk manager and not in there either.

Please help as I need these disks to show up.

Thanks.

John.

have you formatted them? go into disk managment or use the cmd line to see if they are correctly formatted.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I should have said that the 4x 2TB drives were disconnected during the install both times as I am prone to formatting the wrong drives lol

But no they do not show up in disk management. I have not tried cmd though I will have a check there tomorow. Thankyou.
