There's also another approach which may be easier to follow/understand. 

 

( X-1/x+2 - 1 ) / ( x-1/x+2 +2)

(X-1/x+2 - x+2/x+2) / (x-1/x+2 + 2(x+2/x+2))

((x-1 - (x+2))/x+2) / (x-1/x+2 + 2x+4/x+2)

((x-1-x-2)/x+2) / ((x-1 + 2x+4)/(x+2))

(-3/x+2) / ((3x+3)/(x+2))

-3/x+2 * x+2/3x+3

-3/3x+3

-1/x+1
