CPU, Memory, Disk almost completely filled up by nothing! Help!

Hey there everyone,

Recently I formatted my laptop because I was giving it to my mom. After formatting it I decided to reinstall windows 10 (this one was originally windows 8). When I was downloading windows 10 however something went wrong and my laptop was unusable for like 3 days displaying error codes on start up. It took me a while but I ended up fixing it by finding a nifty YouTube video.

I now have the laptop working and with windows 10 again completely formatted. Now when I use it its extremellyyyy slow.. It used to be 15x faster before I did anything to it. 

When I open up the task manager just using google chrome and like 2 tabs I get high CPU/Memory/Disk % usage. Anyone have any idea whats wrong or how to fix it? I'd appreciate the help!

P.S. I'm not the tech savviest so I would need step-by-step solutions haha

Specs?

And did you format all the drives or just C:\ ?

CPU: Ryzen 2 2700@ 4.0Ghz    Mobo: Gigabyte X470 Gaming 7 Wifi    Cooler: EVGA CLC 240    GPU: GTX1080 FTW DT @ 2113Mhz   PSU: EVGA 750W P2   

Case: Fractal Design Meshify C   Displays: 34" LG34UC79G, 24" Dell

Specs: 8gb ram, intel core i5-3230M @ 2.5GHz 750 GB HDD

I don't know.. I went to the start up menu and just put factory reset.. is that all the drive or just C:\?

Memory usage seems normal, 49% is normal. CPU usage not too high.

 

And when you factory reset I think it just formats the C:\, if you still see your old data on the other drives, then you know only C: got formatted. But that should not affect the speed of the computer.

 

So you installed windows 10 from scratch (use USB to boot, and re-format the drive, and install windows 10)?

Oh, your disk is probably filled up with Windows.Old (go into root C:\) 

It has all your documents, etc before the re installation. You can salvage what you want from it, and delete it.

 

For device manager just search up "device manager" (not quotes) in your start menu. Should be the first thing that pops up.

lol, I just meant the "basic" portion of the C drive (top of the tree?). Sorry, I'm having a hard time trying to explain it, can't really find any metaphors for it. To get there just go to "This PC" in File Explorer and then double click on the C: drive. That would be the top level/root of that drive. You'll probably see Windows.OLD there.

Hahaha, I hate this part. But wait! Win10 has a thing that does it for you! (I'm actually surprised right now, didn't know it was a thing.)
