CES Gaming monitors?

WhiteSkyMage

Hey guys,

There are going to be quite a lot of "HDR" left and right this year. You have probably seen that new 4K 144hz monitor from Asus (quantum dot)? Well unfortunately we wont be getting our hands on it until Q3-Q4 of this year unfortunately (sorce: TFTCentral)

It so happens that I am on the hunt for Ultrawide monitors. There is this Samsung one C34F791 which i can buy now and have HDR colors with a little less than 4K resolution nd FreeSync, but since June of last year, there was this bigger monster I have been hunting on from Acer by the name of XR382CQK. It is using an LG panel, and it is 37.5" with 3840x1600p again with FreeSync. Has anybody heard anything about it recently or is it a forgotten product that Acer showcased and never released?

Oh yes, one more thing. With all of that HDR hype and "Quantum dots", did the VA panels somehow overtook the IPS by any chance? Because I get more people telling me that I would see better colors with that samsung Quantum dot VA panel than with any IPS. I am a little confused. Does it all come down to sRGB in the end? 125% vs 99%? HDR color gamut?
