Hello,

I have been trying to install linux on my system (after seeing on how shady microsoft really is), but noticed that my main mouse does not respond in the linux environment, but works fine in windows. I have tried multiple mice, and none of them have worked.

Here are my machine specs, if it helps:

* AMD FX 8350 at stock

* MSI 970 Gaming motherboard

* 16 GB Crucial Ballistix Sport

* EVGA gtx 970 FTW at stock

I have tried this on various flavors of Ubuntu and Manjaro, and none of the mice that I tried worked. Any Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

why u using linux over microsoft just because there shady? you game right? linux dont do many games. and what phone u got android? juck it out windows then as google leak and take more info on you than any other company what search engine you use? every google search there stealing your results lol loads of companys worse than microsoft that your still happy to use but becuase micrsoft are resently found out to do the same and bigger scale than they have in past its a huge issue why? there not stealing anything on you that can incriminate you or anything? fuck no matter what OS you use you ISP sees everything you do on the internet from what porn your in to to what youtube channels you watch or games you play so if your worried about anyone using you information in a shady way to say incriminat you or see your dirty secrets your ISP is the biggest one to worry about and erm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1kGMCfb2xw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgKJMsJ-6XU use them stop there shady activity, so u can still play ur games. as game support on linux is shit to none so.

First of all hello.

You didn't tell us what mice is in question? I remember that some Gigabyte mice didn't work properly on linux a few years ago, but i for example have a shit Gigabyte mouse right now and I'm writing this from Ubuntu 16.04.

This might seem basic but did you try a different port? Front - back IO? Also if you have any other mouse in the house to try it out would be helpful.

I'm using a logitech g402 mouse, and it's well documented that it works with linux.

go into the bios, somewhere in there, you will find a mouse setting that is more than likely "advanced." change this to basic and that should solve this problem. if not, let me know

Wait, that shouldn't be a problem for Ubuntu based distros.... That's a Debian issue... Try running Linux Mint, I personally prefer it over Ubuntu and it's still good for Linux beginners

I would, but I need to run Ubuntu Mate for dev purposes. I can't seem to find any option for advanced mouse mode. I'll try turning off the USB 3 controller and report back.
