upgrades

so currently i have a i7-3930k at 4.63ghgz, asus P9x79 pro motherboard and 16gb 4*4gb 2400mhz dominator platinums + gtx 770 2gb(dont want to upgrade it yet)

i want to upgrade soon, i would preferably like to still have 6+ cores and 40 pcie lanes, because why the fuck not, i have compared having 4c/8t and 6c/12t and there isnt much visual difference

i include screenshots of cinebench r15 with single and multicore scores

and fps comparison in bioshock infinite(it was easist to bench) where i compared 4c/8t vs 6c12t

so i would prefer the latest and greatest, but i dont mind waiting

all im upgrading would be cpu, mobo, ram

i dont necessarily need to upgrade, its just theres quirks to having 5 year old hardware

my questions are:

1. what should i upgrade to

2.should i upgrade soon

3.should i wait till the end of the year ( i had planned to upgrade cpu, ram, mobo at the end of the year) would prefer sooner

looking at 4c/8t+ only

Well at the moment you would benefit the most by upgrading the GPU. The cost of getting a new X99 rig to replace the 6/12 you have right now isnt worth it. You're talking maybe MAYBE a 15-20% IPC improvement, and even then theres a low likelihood youll get a chip that hits 4.6ghz. Also, unless youre running 2+ gpus you need nowhere near 40 pcie lanes

The short answer is that your GPU is the main part you need to upgrade. Spending the money on a new X99 platform right now is a waste. Especially with AMD potentially upsetting that market this quarter.
