How do I say this... G-Sync is definitely a nice feature to have. It's harder to justify the price when compared to FreeSync but the buttery-smooth experience it offers is a game-changer. TBH, that's why FreeSync is one of the big selling points for AMD cards. I know a few people who've returned their GTX 1070s/GTX 1080s for R9 Furys just for FreeSync and they don't regret that decision.

Whether or not it's worth it... that's up to you. Alternatively, you can wait for AMD's Vega and take advantage of the FreeSync on the MG279Q.

Hi, I'm soon going to buy a GTX 1080 and I'm struggling to decide whether it is really worth it to pay more for Asus PG279Q over Asus MG279Q. The only difference is G-Sync support. Is it really worth it?

250USD price difference..Eh it'll be an investment for sure. Obviously you're going to notice it in 3rd person games where you're constantly swinging the camera around or where there are a lot of things happening on screen at once and the screen has to refresh very quickly. If V-Sync isn't enough for you and you play games like those a lot then yes I recommend getting G-sync if you have the money

G-Sync is only worth if you really WANT that absolute PERFECT GamePlay with NO TEARRING.

so if you play CS or lower demanding Titles its Defenetly Not worth it cuz at 300 FPS there is almost no Tearring at all.

Go in the games you like, check if the Tearring is really such of an issue to you and then decide to yourself.

I was in the same boat as you my friend ive been stuck with a 60hz standard monitor for a long time and i was putting off splashing out on a monitor that was decent i ended up opting for the Asus PG248Q 180hz refresh + gsync and i was kicking my self for spending 400 GBP on it but let me tell you this im using the screen at 144hz and gsync enabled and everything looks buttery smooth providing you have the horses to power it :) Do some research on the monitor you are looking for and check the best option for you thats the best advice i can give but gsync is wonderful makes everything smooth and with 144hz everything looks unreal

With the 1080 if you get it i would opt for gsync

Any problems with backlight bleed?

There is a little bit of backlight bleed on the bottom left and right corner but nothing that can ruin your experience. It's way less than the ones you see on YouTube if that gives you an idea.
