Mobo doesn't detect GPU

Anyways, I've got both cards in now and won't be interrupted anymore.

OK, down in the lower left corner of your screen is a windows logo, right click on it and select "control panel".

I didn't have enough power connectors. I've only got one 4+4 connector left, everything else is already hooked up.

But the fans on the 1060 are spinning so it is getting some power.

Hang on, there's an adapter that came with the card, I might be able to use that.

Just to verify, you did not see your processer on there as a display device?

No, don't use the adapters, we're going to use the on board display.  Dont hook up your new card to NO adapers

Shut down machine and boot into BIOS.

the adapter I meant is a 2 Sata to 6pin PCIe adapter... and I'm not frying anything, this is not my first PC, but this problem certainly is.

Just let me walk you through it OK, I'm not doubting your expertise but I have no idea of your level of experience.  I just don't want you to make a mistake so please dont hook your new graphics card up to adapters.  Do you want to continue?

what we need to do now is to get your onboard graphics working, Does your IO shield have some sort of display out?

OK, so much for that.  Do you have another display cable that you can hook up to your monitor from the new video card so you don't have to switch back and forth, you can just switch inputs on the monitor?
