Changing CPU + Motherboard

I am going to upgrade to (most likely) a i5-6600(k) and either a z170 motherboard if I get the K variant.

 

I have the following questions:

1) Do you recommend the 6600k over the 6600. Looking at some benchmarks, it seems as if the K doesn't add anything extra besides 5 fps in certain games.

2) What motherboard should I get if I get the non-K variant?

3) Howe do I preserve Windows on my current machine when I swap it out? Do I need the product key again (I think I may have lost it)?

Firstly are you able to wait a month or two to see what the new Kaby Lake architecture brings, if nothing else it will bring a price drop to the Skylake CPUs .

I've noticed that it doesn't really drop the price of the older generations.

 

Is there a substantial difference in this new architecture?

If you dont want to overclock or want to pay less at the cost of some performance, Go for the 6600 + h170.

You can even get one 6700 with an h170 or h110 for a similar price to 6600k + z170 (at least where i live)

Is it worth waiting for the new desktop architecture though? It seems as if there is almost no change in performance (power consumption isn't an issue).

I definitely want to stick on the intel side, does anybody know any information regarding the kaby lake desktop versions?
