I've got a clients laptop here and the Outlook 2013 (windows 8.1) keeps crashing. It goes into Not Responding mode and stay that way. I've tried to end the task in task manager after that as the X wouldnt close it. Didnt work - Tried Taskkill in CMD - didnt work. It doesnt go away till you restart the machine.

What are my variables i need to eliminate here to get it working again? (There are like 3000 emails on the outlook when i checked at a working stage)

does outlook work in safe mode?

Run outlook.exe /safe

Yes that one works perfectly fine - Sending and receiving doesnt make it not respond nor does closing that one

Hhmm ok well that would tend to suggest something outside is interfering with it - an add-on, extension, program that hooks into outlook etc.

May be worth checking add-ons, disabling them or checking for any programs that might be interacting with outlook.

Yeh:

Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016

  1. File-> section Options-> section Add-Ins
  2. At the “Manage” dropdown list at the bottom select which type of add-ins you would like to enable/disable
  3. Press “Go…” and make the changes
  4. For some add-ins you’ll need to restart Outlook for changes to take effect.

from https://www.msoutlook.info/question/88

For step 2, choose COM add-ins.

Once you can see them, you can disable them, or see what program they relate to.

I've turned off One Note Notes about Outlook items and Outlook Social Connector 2013. The crashes are no longer occuring - Are these two add ins necessary?
