Does this card still suffer from that defect where the "E" in EVGA is too bright compared to the rest of the letters?

 

I'm thinking about getting this card over the MSI Gaming X for its RGB but I'm on edge cause of all the problems I've been hearing.

 

Also, if ordering from newegg stock, would the thermal pad issues likely be fixed already?

All the letters on 1070 ftw look the same bit of led bleed through the heat sink to the front on the card and Yes all new cards have the fix by default.

 

If by some insane bad luck you some how get a bad one (leftover stock for example but unlikely) evga stands by its warranty

Well I saw that some people's LED's were perfect and had all the colors on an even brightness. Others suffered with an uneven brightness issue. It seems that some are affected which is weird.

I just got mine and it is still uneven. I've read someone fixed it by unplugging one of the led lights for the lettering

When I RMA'd to have the thermal pads installed, one of the ones they sent me had this issue very severely:

I was already thinking of replacing it for the LED issue when it literally exploded after two weeks of normal use. Keep in mind I RMA'd to have their "fix" installed and it still exploded leaving burn marks on my mobo. EVGA craftsmanship and QC is just not what they used to be.

Yeah after hearing about the fiasco with EVGA, I thought rationally and said to myself "why should I limit myself into buying a card which has had several problems in the past?."

 

I went ahead and got the Asus Gtx 1080 Strix OC edition instead. I'm excited because it's coming tomorrow and I can't wait to Aura Sync it with my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Aura mobo.
