Forza Horizon 3 is good also if you are into driving simulators BeamNG.Drive is good (it has the most realistic crash physics ever in a driving game).

grid and dirt games are pretty good with a controller. also:

- burnout paradise

- need for speed 2015 (handling is not that great TBH)

- any other nfs game

- flatout games (preferably buy in GOG)

- ridge racer unbounded (haven't tried this game yet)

- forza horizon 3 (probably one of the best arcade racers in a while.. performance is iffy though, but it has gotten better since release)

- fuel (underrated game IMO)

- Mad max (not a strictly racing title, but driving/racing is pretty fun. super optimized as well)

- test drive unlimited

games that might not play the best with a controller, but it's possible

- project cars (mix of sim and arcade.. yep i said it)

- assetto corsa (sim)

- rfactor 1 (shit ton of mods)

- rfactor 2 (not as many mods, but they exist)

- automobilista (based on rfactor engine.. but totally different game)

- simbin games (race 07, GTR 1, GTR 2, GT legends... lots of mods for these games too. dated graphics but they play well and have lots of content + settings)

games that are impossible to enjoy with a controller:

- Dirt rally

- iRacing (subscription-based, online multiplayer)

- richard burns rally (dated graphics but top-notch rally sim. updated regularly by fan community)

- GP legends (super old game, but probably one of the best simulations of 60s F1. mods can be tough to get a hold of)

a non-exhaustive list, but this is what i can think off the top of my head
