Are there any Z170 motherboards with the M.2 hidden, either under a cover/shield of some sort, or behind the board? I have a Samsung 961 green M.2 I'd rather be hidden and not seen.

System: Ryzen 7 5800X - Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master - Noctua D15S Chromax - 32GB 3600 RAM - EVGA Black 2080Ti

I think they're are a few motherboards which have the M.2 slot underneath the board.

Like this (This is Z97 btw)

You can get one of these.

As far as i know only the ITX boards have their m.2 on the back.

Ah excellent... never knew they existed, thanks! Are they OK to use then, won't affect temps too much?

I think you're right with ITX boards being the only ones on the rear. I didn't think an ATX board would have it.

OK thanks... wasn't sure if they choked the drives given they do get a bit warm, but I'm sure they wouldn't be selling them if they did.

NVMe drives are known to thermal throttle only if you keep hammering them for prolonged periods of time. For most use cases, they won't ever get there.
