Hey, I was asked by a mate about a build for around 700$, he was going to buy it from a store but I told him that I could help him, now I haven't got the biggest experience with budget builds so some advice would be neat.

He's basically upgrading from a 4-5 year old pc, it was a semi-good build back then. It's mainly going to be used for games like Counter-Strike: source, but he's also wanting to play the new dead island when it comes out, he doesn't really care for the settings, currently runs everything on low.

He has got all of the gaming gear, so the only other thing he might want to add on in the future is a new monitor. His old build is like I said before 4-5 years old so there isn't anything to salvage from that.

I hope you can help :-)

For low budget builds, you'll want to go amd maybe a m-atx if you wanted to go a bit more conservative

7770 which ever one is on sale right now and you get far cry 3

8gb ram

1tb hhd (probably barracuda since caviars really arent worth it, maybe 1.5tb since only $10~20 more)

64gb ssd

probably something really cheap like hyper212 cooler for mild oc

if you want to salvage the old case, you could possibly upgrade to 660ti which delivers much better performance

3770k, Asrock Extreme 4, 16GB Dominator Plat, AX760i, 250GB BX100, 1.5TB Seagate, Win 7 Home Prem
