Upgrading ram

So, I have a 8gb of ram and I want to know, will something happen if I put ram of like 2gb form my old pc into my new with 8gb. Will it damage the system? And will it improve something on my pc?

It will not but what RAM? DDR3, DDR4? Only 2GB won't improve anything much.

To answer your question, it likely won't damage anything, but mixing and matching RAM doesn't always work properly.

 

Do you find you need more than 8 GB of RAM? If not, then no, you won't see any improvement. Unused RAM does not make a computer faster.

 

Also, 2 GB isn't very much. If you need more than 8 GB, chances are you need more than 10 GB. You're better off matching it with another 8 GB stick, preferably one that's identical.
