Hello fellow friends, so here's my problem:

The issue

My computer randomly freezing means, that everything just stops on screen:
The cursor won't move, the video/music playing will stop and nothing will respond.
There is no error message, ctrl+alt+delete won't do any effect, so I have to force shut down.
Even as I write this thread, my computer might freeze.

BUT there is a twist: It won't freeze if a game is being executed, if I stay idle in a game menu such as CSGO, Tomb Raider or Battlefield 1, the computer will not freeze.

Operating system

Windows 10 64bit

Specs

I5 6600K OC@4.2ghz

EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Edition

2x 8GB DDR4 RAM HyperX Fury (2133mhz)

Thermaltake Berlin 630W PSU

Z170-HD3P Gigabyte mobo (with latest update)

212 EVO Coolermaster CPUcooler

Sharkoon T28 Case

240GB Crucial SSD

1TB Seagate HDD 7.2k rpm

What I already tried

Switched slots of my ram sticks from .|.| to |.|.
installed all latest drivers, Bios, Geforce experience,...

If someone could help me find a possible solution, I'd be so grateful! Thanks :)

did you try running stock settings on the CPU? and i see you have the evga 1070. did you order the cooling pads or had it replaced to fix the VRM problem? other than that i'd check device manager for any devices that might have an /!\ next to it, see if you have xmp enabled on the ram. Also is this a new build?

GPU drivers giving you a hard time? Try this! (DDU)

Hello Lukah, thank you for your answer

The problem existed before I OC'd my CPU and I have my evga gtx1070 only since a week, the freezing issue already existed with my old graphics card.

I ran several tests on my EVGA after I saw JayzTwoCents' video about the issue and my card has no overheating issue. (28°C idle, 55°C max after 30min on full load)

I checked device manager as you told me, there was nothing out of place. But XMP was indeed disabled, I enabled it now.

Finally, yes it is a pretty new build. Built it in february 2015, the only new feature is the GTX1070

Thanks for the help, we only have to hope it'll work!
