Getting a build ready for BF and CM.

BUDGET: ~800-850 CAD (Canadian)
AIM:
Gaming PC that will be capable of running my billion or so chrome tabs as well as the latest Triple-A games.
Monitors: I currently have 3 and am planning to add more. The 1070 should be find in this department.
Why am I upgrading? My Motherboard is dying as well as the i7 920 (Not Overclocked) just doesn't cut it any more. The Motherboard doesn't have any 3.0 (Can be solved with an expansion card. Already have one.) and only supports 12GB or Ram. (8GB Installed)

Current Specs:

CPU: i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz

Motherboard: (Not Required)

Memory: 8GB

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

Video Card: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW (ACX 3.0 Cooler)

Case: (Not Required)

Power Supply: EVGA SUPERNOVA 850 B2 (850W)

I'm going to be getting a new CPU, Motherboard, Memory, and Case. I've decided on the NZXT H440 Mid Tower Case but still am deciding on the rest. I've got a list of parts I think would work however I'd like a few people to check the list out and provide your opinion.

Thanks,

Do already have more storage apart from the SSD? 500Gb isnt much, get a larger SSD or HDD for mass storage. All good apart from that.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

I have a 2TB HDD that is on it's way out. I'm planning to get a new one but it's not the highest priority right now.

Thanks,

The video card, power supply and storage solution you have are really good and are in no need of an upgrade, but if you need more storage i would invest in a old school HDD.

I think something like this would suite you nicely

 jgSbYmi.png

A top of the line motherboard and a great CPU capable of overclocking with a nice cooler.

As a sinner myself of having a million chrome tabs open in the background while doing some gaming i would say 16GB is the perfect amount of ram and shouldn't need an upgrade any time soon. Should you feel differently you could always just install another 16gig down the line with ease.

You did not specify exactly what you want to keep and what you don't want to keep, so i did not include a case. But choosing a a case is very personal since there aren't any right or wrong answers (most of the time) and most of the time comes down to the aesthetics.

Glad to hear it's not only me that has tons of Chrome tabs :D Also, the reason I didn't pick an i5 was the Hyperthreading. Not sure if it's that useful or not tbh but I could use the extra CPU power. (Video Editing, etc.)

I probably should have stated what I'm going to keep so I'll do it below :P

GPU, PSU, Storage, and everything else excluding the Mobo, CPU, and Ram.

Thanks,

Jake

Multithreading will help a great deal with rendering videos and save a lot of time in the long run, so if that's a big hobby of yours and you have the money, it's easily justified going for an I7.

Everything is the same except the CPU which is swapped out with the I7-6700k which is 4 cores / 8 threads.

I feel inclined to tell you that you are able to get the I7-6800k which is 6 cores / 12 threads for 100$ more, but i doubt that you really need that. and choosing the 6800k also means having to go for another chipset.

No offense but those prices look more American than Canadian.
